I have a 4310 with 60" MMM. I bought the John Deere leveling and cutting height gauge. The deck is level and I wanted to set a cutting height. The gauge wheels are setup for 2 1/2 inch cut. I turned out the height knob and lowered the deck until the blade tip measured 2 1/2. I thightened the height knob. I cut a path and thought it was much too low. I raised the deck and reset the knob. I did this a couple times till I thought it was cutting at the height I wanted. When I got back to the garage I used the gauge and found I was cutting at 4 inches. I measured from the floor to the cutting tip of the blade with the blade side to side.
I know I will cut at what ever height looks right but don't most say to cut at about 2 1/2 to 3 inches. I'm at 4 inches now and I think it is borderline low. By the way. What unit of measure is the other measure on the gauge? I see numbers like 51.
