You could probably make yourself a "thinga majobie" with a hook on the end to reach down and pull up when needed (heck put a hole in the end to grab also). Then just find a place to stow on the tractor when not using (this is the hard part).
One potential source of the "rod" is an old golf club. My father has a couple we use for playing horse shoes to pick up the shoes. Cut of club head, attach a bent piece of metal to the saft and voila a "thinga majobie" is born! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
Lift till your hearts content........you could even coat with plasti coat if you didn't want to drill the hole so it would grip ok.
I used a bungy to hold mine up when my bagger is on or when loading on my trailer, but don't lift and drop regularly or I would probably build one myself.
