Do I have to remove the MMM to drain Hyd. fluid and change filter on a BX ? /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

You could but it would be harder to do than getting it out of the way. I would just move it.

Take the MMM off and slide it out from under the tractor. Your going to need a large pan to catch the hyd fluid and the mower will be in the way.

Do you have to? No, I think you can reach both the filter and the drain plug with the mmm attached. However, I can't really think of any practical way to catch the oil either from the drain or the filter with the mmm in the way. I think the job will be much easier and neater if you remove the deck. It really is a pretty simple process. Plus, while it's off you can clean and inspect the under side of the mmm much easier and reach the greasing points easier as well. I know my mmm collects a lot of grass under the deck and it's difficult to get it properly cleaned without removing the deck.

The filter on mine was so bloody tight that I needed all the room to get at it as possible. You *could* change the hydro oil with the deck on, but the deck comes off so easily, why bother? /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

Edit: Reply was ment for the origional poster, sorry.

I recommend taking off the MMM for that change. More
room to work, room for the drain pan, etc.

It's not a problem so I don't bother with taking it off and putting it back on.

I've drained the hyd fluid twice.
I use a large drain pan under the tractor and have room to spare with the mower on the tractor and the mower is not in the way.

There is no need to remove the left rear wheel to clean the hyd screen either just as there is no need to take the hood and engine shroud off to change the engine oil.
