I am having a problem with the 60 inch MMM on my Kubota BX2200. When I dial the cutting height control knob to "top" the mower stays in the top position as it should. However, when I dial it to any other cutting height number the deck drops until the anti-scalp wheels touch the ground. The mower seems to be attached properly and I see no obvious problem. Any ideas? Thanks.

Does your machine have the 1/4" valving feature?

I don't know what that is. I've searched my owner's manual and don't see it mentioned.

Your problem would be with the linkage below the floor pan. There is a something that is making it all or nothing. I'd have to say the shaft is not turning with the knob.

Sounds like I need to remove the mower deck and take a look. Thanks.

chuckr,
I am no mechanic, however I have spent some time looking at the way the deck is hooked to the 3pt hitch. Above your back right tire is the linkage that hooks the 3pt arms to the deck raising and lowering mechanism. It can be adjusted so that the max height and drop of the deck can be adjusted. You might want to try and start there to see if it is out of whack.

The other possibility is that the pin on the height adjustment is wore or broken. I am not well versed on how that thing works, so I will let someone else chime in on that subject. Good luck.:)

Chuckr,

I've got the same problem and am glad you've raised the topic!

The mower adjustment knob is a pretty simple concept.

The handle and shaft are connected to a 360 degree spiral.
Think of one turn on your posthole digger's cutting edge.

The mower lift arm mechanism has a lever that sits on top of this spiral. Depending on where the spiral is rotated, the lever is limited in how far it can drop.

Something must be wrong with this lever/spiral contact point.
If you remove the MMM and you are pretty flexible, you can see this from under the tractor.

To really see to it, you need to take off the fender and deck pan bodywork.
