I have a 2710 with a 60" MMM. I noticed when I cut the grass last time that there is a streak left near the middle of the cutting path. I checked the blades and they all appear ok. I removed and sharpened them and tried again with the same result. I even tried mowing in low with the same results. I have NOT yet tried swapping the blades around but will before the next time I mow. Are there any adjustments I should be concerned with as far as the linkage goes? (I checked the gauge wheels and the other settings for the height. All are correct) Just a little confused ???

Thanks,

greg

Is it a line of uncut grass or is it just a streak mark?

My MMM on my B7500 will leave a mark right in the middle if the lawn is soft enough from the wheels onthe back of the MMM. The mark goes away tho.

I doubt you have uncut grass right in the middle, unless you have something in the front center of your MMM that is pushing the grass down while the middle blade goes over it and then popping back up after you've passed it.

A way to test it is to suspend the mower and then cut some grass, If the mark disappears, then it must be the MMM wheels causing it.

It is not as mark from the wheels, but is uncut grass. It is fairly consistent thats why I was wondering if there is some linkage adjustment I don't have set correctly.

You're not alone. I noticed the exact same thing on my B7500 with 60" mmm the last time I used it. I at first thought the blades needed sharpening but now I am not so sure. I haven't had a chance to look at it since so I am interested in what you come up with. I had not noticed this happening on any of the other times that I mowed. Could it possibly be that the belt has lost some tension with wear and it has more of an affect on the center blade due to belt routing?

Are sure you haven't knoched a chunck out of a blade? Or maybe somebody installed a blade that's a little smaller than normal?
My MMM on my B7500 will leave a line in the cut grass where the wheels roll, but the cut is really good after 175 hours and I've never sharpened the blades and I have clipped a few roots/rocks along with acres of the grass I've mowed.

No apparent chunks out of the blades. Still the original blades. They have been sharpened several times including AFTER this happened. This weekend I am going to rotate the blades around to see if the problem area moves. If so, then it is obviously a blade problem, if not then ?????

Thanks,

greg

Dude, sharpen those blades. They lure you into thinking they are ok but you will notice the difference after you sharpen them. anytime you hot a rock they get dull. And also after about 20 acres of just grass. Sharpen them, your machine will thank you.

I'm not familiar with this particular deck, but it's common for the center blade to be either longer or shorter than the outside blades. I would try measuring the blades to see if one is a different length, and put that one in the middle.

Greg,

Is the center blade upside down?

I found the problem. Before I started mowing yesterday, I decided to take the mowing deck off and re-install it. I noticed the front linkage was sitting at a strange angle. TA-DA . It was not on correctly. I either messed it up when I re-installed it last time or I hit something and knocked it out of whack. Any how, I reseated the connection and did a test mow. LIFE IS GOOD :~> I no longer have the streak. Live and learn I guess. Thanks for all the advice. Next time I will check EVERYTHING instead of "assuming" that it is all correct.
