I have a 4310 with 60" belly mower. Since I got the tractor I had an issue with mounting the deck but I have been able to work around it. I was going to call service and see if there was a fix. Wondering if others have this issue and if not maybe something was not setup right on mine.

I have the hood guard on my 4310 for the 430 FEL. There is a lever on the front linkage for the mower. You connect the rear of the linkage to the front of the deck. The front of the linkage drops into slots in the front frame of the tractor. You use the attached lever on the linkage to rotate and lock the linkage in place. My issue is the lever makes contact with the hood guard. What I have to do is attach the front of the linkage to the tractor and then connect it to the mower with the J hook. This works but defeats the purpose of the lever.

The way mine is setup one would think you can't have the hood guard installed if you want to use a belly mower.

The lever on my MMM does not hit the grill guard on my 4300. Maybe the lever needs to be bent outward slightly to clear the guard?

Thanks for the feedback. Hoping to hear from others as well. Interesting that you have a 4300 and don't have that issue. I have the ten series and the decks are different from what I know.

Wonder if I got a wrong part mixed in some how?

I have the 72" mmm on my 4410 which has the same set up. Mine hits the grill guard frame as well. As I recall, I install the handle first, rotating it rearward to preclude hitting the grill guard, leave it partially attatched (loose), then attach the J hooks and then rotate the handle the remainder of the way back to secure and tighten it, set the pin and go. I had to fiddle with this a bit when I first got the tractor but it seems to work. I agree, this could be designed MUCH better.

Interesting in that another 10 series owner has the same issue as I do. A 4300 owner did not. I have sales at my dealer looking into this as I have a 4410 on order and was hoping it could be addressed in some way.

I got an e-mail reply on this issue from my Dealer. I pasted that part of the reply below.

Craig

"John from service just came back, he said that is a problem and Deere said just to bend the handle, he said he ussually does that when he puts them on, doesn't know how he missed yours because he doesn't like telling people about that high tech solution. He will make sure he applies the fix to your 4410 before it comes out."

My dealer bent the handle out to about a 45 degree angle prior to delivery. It precluded the problem you are having and is an easy fix that doesn't require return of the MMM to the dealer.

I had the same problem on my 4210. I clamped a 12" crescent wrench on the handle, and bent it out. Solved the problem.

You would think that John Deere would have a better and more appropriate fix for this. I just have not been able to bring myself to bend the handle yet.
