I have come to dread the reattachment of the MMM on my 2200. Do any of you guys just set the MMM on the top position and go about your business of using the FEL & BB?

Thanks-

I take it your problem is in reattacting the PTO shaft. The easy way I found to to this is to first postion the MMM under the tractor and to connect the shaft first by lying on your stomach on the mower deck (this alows you to be able to see the connection point) use your left hand to pick up the shaft and your right hand to guide the shaft on. Do not attempt to pull back the lock ring on the shaft until it is started on, once it is started simply pull back the locking ring and push forward with your left hand on the shaft until it snaps in place. Also if you pull the shaft apart make sure you put it back together before you put the deck under the tractor as it will only go together in one position and it is not easy to locate this position under the tractor. After the PTO shaft in in place connect the lift arms and then do the front connection last. When removing the deck follow the owners manaul inst. and disconnect the front first, lift arms second and raise the lift and the PTO shaft last. If you do things in this order all should go smoothly. You can do it in another order but you will find it very difficult as I'm sure you are aware. Hope this helps!

Hootie,

I'll second the above comment. Roll the deck under your tractor. Line up the PTO shaft with the spindle WITHOUT pulling back on the locking collar. If it's not sliding on, give it a twist (10 degrees) and try again. Once it's lined up, the pull the collar back and the shaft should go on fine. Everything from there is a piece of cake.

I used to have a terrible time trying to keep the collar pulled back and the shaft aligned at the same time. It's not necessary. I've gotten so I can get the mower on in 2-3 minutes now, and I do remove it if I'm doing serious FEL work.

I've often used my FEL with the MMM attached as long as it's not heavy work that would be affected by the ground clearance of the raised blade.

I have used the FEL on my BX2200 with the MMM in the "locked up" position if I am just moving some things around. But I do remove the mower for anything serious.

Another thing that has helped me decrease the time it takes to install the MMM is once I am lying on the ground, if I am having any trouble at all connecting the PTO shaft, I give the mower belt a little turn until everything lines up and slides in. The first few times I removed/installed the MMM i dreaded it, but now it is a 3-5 minute job.

I’ve had trouble with mine from time to time, but I think that I’ve found the trick. Make sure the pto shaft and inside of the collar is clean. I’m not talking about sparkling clean, just make sure the obvious dirt/grit is removed. A shot of grease after cleaning, and it just slides right on.

The first few times connecting the mower I had trouble but found that if I spray a shot of WD40 on the end of the shaft and on the connector collar it goes on very easily. I hook up the drive shaft first then connect the lift arms.

3 - 5 minutes? Wow, that is a long time, it takes me about 40 seconds to disconnect mine and then another 15 - 20 to remove it from under the tractor. What holds you up that long?

Nuru,

He probably has to stop and admire the fine engineering that went into his tractor:)

My 3-5 minutes comes mostly from rotating the casters from facing forward to facing sideways - It is parked in a confined area and I need to climb over all sorts of junk. But as mentioned above, there is also the Wow factor when admiring such a fine piece of machinery!!!
