I own a 955 recently purchased used with a 72" MMM and need to know how it can and should be removed, any tricks or things to look for like drive shaft removal? I just want to get a heads up before I attempt, it looks fairly simple but you never know, lol.

Thanks

I have a 2320 and the removal of the mid mount mower is a breeze. I have the drive over. Not sure what you got but its fairly simple. On mine there is a quick detach spring loaded pin on the front of the tractor that needs pulled out and turned. This makes the forward assembly drop to the ground. After that there are the same type of spring-loaded pins on either side of the tractor that have to be pulled out and turned to "lock" them in the open position. The drive shift is a collar coupling that pulls right off when you slide the collar back (towards the front of the tractor). I hope this helps. It goes back on just as easy .

The drive shaft should be the same as the 3ph PTO - pull on the coupler and out it comes... The lift arms should be self-explanatory. The only real question is how to get the thing in the right position for removal. And for that, I'm clueless...

I got the mower deck off but the PTO shaft just wont come out?

I will work on it some more when i get time, I kind of was also busy trying to get my quick hitch to work, lol.

Maybe the PTO shaft is at too much of an angle to pop off? Or it may need some oil... Maybe try lifting the deck back up, hosing down the coupler with lithium grease (spray type), and retrying it?

I did soak it over night when I get time this weekend I will try once again to get it off, as far as I know the previous owner only cut grass with this tractor so its been on since new, 14 yrs.

Thanks

Did you try tapping it lightly with a rubber mallet or wooden mallet?

I finally got under the tractor and had to use a hammer and pry bar, once i got it to snap loose, then I could slip it right off, actually I put it back on and off a couple of times. Thanks to everyone for their help:D
