I recently purchased a '06 BX 1850. I got a super deal on it. 8250 out the door with a 48" fine cut MMM Deck. I would have to say that the buying experience was super except for the fact that I am new to tractors. However, I have used alot of other heavy equipment just not tractors. I was told to go buy from this place and that there is no dealing that needs to be done, since their prices are so much lower than any place else. I have heard they have great service, but the salesman I dealt with has recently moved into sales off of the parts counter and really didn't give me a good rundown of the machine, and I was left to figure alot out on my own. I believe that i should have gotten a manual on the MMM deck and the tractor. All i got was the tractor manual. I was looking at the deck and it looks as though it is a "quick disconnect" , but I was wondering what the process was----Start at the front---start at the back or what??? Anybody got any input??

It is back at the dealer right now for a leak.....It dripped about a drop of fluid out of the rear end a day...Nothing major i don't think....i hope.....but by all means I got a great deal, I just got the newbie saleman who was swamped with customers the day i bought mine...

Thanks!!

I've done it millions of times. Set your height knob to Zero (0.0"). Lower the deck to the ground with the hydraulics so it is sitting on the anti-scalp wheels. Pull quick release thingy on each side of the deck. This hooks to the deck and on the arms that do the raising/lowering of the deck. Park the release in a little slot. Whooee! This is difficult to describe but once you get it you'll find it very easy. Go around to the front of the tractor and release that mechanism. The deck is now detached from the tractor. Raise the deck arms to get them out of the way (like lifting the deck except no deck is attached). Put a strap or rope around some solid part of the deck and drag it out from under the tractor. The PTO shaft will fall off when you do this.

This whole process is just a little easier if you have the loader on the front and can use it to raise the front of the tractor after you've dropped the deck.

Putting the MMM deck back on is almost the reverse of the above except you'll put the PTO shaft on last. When I put the deck on, I first get the deck all attached with the PTO shaft hanging off the deck. I back the tractor on a couple of car ramps to give me space to squeeze under the tractor from the back side. Then I have two hands to put the @^#$%@#$*#& quick release collar on the output shaft of the transmission. Make darn, darn sure that you have that collar snapped in all the way. The PTO shaft can come off and bust up your transmission filter and cause lots of problems.

I can remove my deck in a couple of minutes. Putting it back on takes about 10 minutes with very few swear words required. The loader is lots easier to take off/on. I would bet big money that I could pull the whole thing all the way off and reinstall it within two minutes!

You forgot to have him REMOVE the PTO shaft from the tractor. If you skip that step, and engage the PTO you are in for some major repairs. Simply grab the collar & pull it off the tractor. Hader to describe than to do.

DEMAND a deck manual from the dealer.........you paid for it and will need it in the future. Trying to figure things out from a forum will help but the owners manuals are invaluable.

They owe you the manual; insist that they give it to you. You can also download a PDF version online for free. You need Adobe Reader to decode it.

The first reply forgot to tell you to rotate the anti-scalp wheels prior to lowering the deck. Also, it's easier to release the front bracket, then the mid-tractor lift rods. Reverse order when reattaching.

I find no need to use the loader for assistance. I make attachment changes on the smooth garage floor with the cars moved out. I built a dolly for my MMM using 1/2" plywood which is congruent with the bottom skirt of the MMM. I have 16 two inch dia. swivel casters around the perimeter of the plywood for support. This eliminates the need to pivot the anti-scalp wheels and makes maneuvering the deck far easier. A number of people say they have trouble reattaching the PTO shaft. Mine rarely takes more than 4 seconds; it's all about using technique and finesse, not brute force.
