I have been back to doing some research on my never ending, on agean, off agen tractor search, /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif and I saw something that struck me as kind of strange. It was a belly mower[OK lets be current. A MMM /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif] on a Ford 8N. I had never seen one before. Now THAT'S a garden tractor! /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif Anyone ever used one? What problems do they have? Thanks.

Paul, do you mean you never saw an 8N Ford or that you never saw one with a MMM? I'm not sure what you are asking. The 8N Ford had a line of about 30 different implements, but no mid-mount or belly mower. If you saw one, it sounds like someone got "creative" and modified the rear PTO to drive the mower since there was also no mid-pto on the 8N. /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

I've had a couple of 3 point mounted belly mowers on various tractors most recently on my 25 year old kubota. You back the tractor over the deck (yes they're made heavy enough to do this!) , hook to the 3 point and after about 1/2 hour of initial adjusting, you're off mowing. My mower was made by BMB/Alamo......the same family of equipment that makes the hi-way mowing equipment the state uses.....very well built. (See attached picture) I believe woods also makes a belly mower for the 8N..........Tom

Wow! You really have to love a MMM to go to that much trouble to make/install one. I know there are many rear-mount finish mowers for the 3PH, but that is the first "generic" belly mower I've ever seen. It looks like you have figured out all the tricks to get it mounted and operating properly.

Ooooh, Paul! My favorite 8N picture website! And the reason I want an 8N- just to idle aroung mowing and maybe plowing in the Winter. I'll betcha the Woods company could answer questions you had - I've seen a recent ad promoting mowers for older tractors. Most of the MMM's I see on older tractors around here are on Farmall Cubs.

I picked up a Woods brochure a few years ago. They list MMMs for a wide number of vintage tractors.
