Mobil one oil

I have used Mobil One oil in all my vehicles for a couple of years. I am convinced that synthetic oil is worth the extra cost. I noticed recently that Mobil One has come out with a new formulation that is guaranteed to last for 15,000 miles and the cost isn't much more than the regular Mobil One. Is that too good to be true? Am I crazy to consider going 15,000 miles between oil changes? Hey gearheads, give me your opinions.

My CTS Caddy has a 7500 mile change on it with synthetic, so I would think that 15,000 is possible with the right additive package. I doubt the filters will last 15,000 mile however.

I use Amsoil and they claim a 25K mile oil change with a filter change at 12.5K, Amsoil is made from Mobil stock, and if I remember back 20 years ago or so when Mobil one first came out and I was work at a Mobil gas station, they claimed a 25K mile oil change.

So I have no problem believing you'll get 15K out of the oil, /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif I just would wonder about the filter?? /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

Amsoil CAN go 25K in some enines and NOT in others. My lexus is one. Based on oil testing I would get only around 17K miles on one drain, max. My normal drains are around 12 to 13K miles.

Amsoil I thought used Mobil or Lubrizol base stocks? Also Amsoil came out over 30 years ago.

Mobil's new 15K oil is there EP line which if you look at the number there is not much going on (same as there old Mobil oil). Not saying it is bad but low ZDDP (p=881 ppm and Zn 1002 ppm) and low Ca = 3108 ppm I do not know.

It IS better then some of there other Mobil oil that are every lower.
