Model 175 Fuel Cuttoff Extra Wire

I found an extra exposed connector tucked in the frame just below my fuel cuttoff solenoid. The wire is parallel and attached to the lead that goes to to the solenoid. I haven't found what it's purpose is. Because of the "jagged teeth" it kinda looks like a test connect or something, but I don't like unconnected wires floating around. I've been troubleshooting intermittent start problems and am wondering if this could be grounding against the frame and preventing starting.

Anyone know wht this is?

tape up weir for now check connections at battery start solenoid ,key ,brake, pto and saet switches all these will effect tractor starting let us know how you make out thanks good luck

Hello again! Thanks for help here. I've done quite a bit since my post but to sum it up I've got inner tubes in 2 tires, engine and tranny oil changed, new filter, thorough cleaning, mower deck belts and idler bushing replaced, and fresh paint on deck and fender. I'm stuck with what I'll call the deck height selector arm and an extra spring. The spring was hooked under the fender at the selector but was disconnected. My first attempt failed to do what I thought it should so now I'm looking for pics on the proper setup.
