John Deere 445
Does anyone have information on how to install a discharge chute on an older model (about 12 years old) JD 445 lawn tractor with a 60" mower. I want to purchace a lawn vac system and was told to get the discharge chute from JD. However it came with no installation instructions and parts dept told me I was on my own. Thanks

Fill us in on some more details.

Can't tell from what you've said just what it is that you have, or are going to get.

Do you have the blower now? Or just the chute and going to get the blower?
What chute do you have? What is the part number?
Would like to help, but can't without more info.

is the boot you got from the JD vaccuum system?
if so, it looks like it just holds onto the deck with
short bungy cords.

It might be the more complicated Powerflow system (where the far right deck pulley has another small pulley attached with a removable belt that powers a small blower).

Can't help you on the JD boot set up, but I was told NOT to use my powered vac bagger boot on my Wheel Horse with my Cyclone Rake. The CR, or any lawn vac, will want to pull the mower fan faster than it's being driven by the deck/engine on the mower. Best if you just add a hollow boot to your JD for use with the lawn vac.

could be, but from the sound of it he is buying
aftermarket, thus going to JD for the chute part.

have to wait and see what OP says i guess.

How much ear protection do you wear with that thing - 3 engines - wow. How's your FPG? (feet per gallon).

It is quite fun to see what it sucks up! The deck does not even need to be turning... The vac motors do like the 100LL at a rate of about two gallons am hour. Nothing but leave dust when I dump it!
