2007 John Deere 3320
I wanted to add some front end protection for moving firewood and brush around. I looked at the prices for the deluxe guard from John Deere and about fainted. My 3320 had the standard guard on front with the 300cx loader. I made the wings out of 1" EMT conduit 90 degree sweeps. Not the strongest of tubing but it should work. I just added some expanded metal and painted it up. I was able to keep it in tight, about a 1 inch gap, to the hood so I can still park the loader. Total cost of about $30.00. About a $250.00 savings. Dont worry, I already have plans for that money. :)

Great job, it looks nice.

Great addition. Don't know why that's not the standard. I just bent the screen on my MF1533 pushing a pile of brush. Wish I had thought of this myself. :ashamed: Guess I have a new project on my hands, After I get the grill screen straightened out. Thanks for sharing. Melanelly

Nice Job! I have the factory deluxe brush guard and I'm always working around timber. I added another plate to the big void below the guard area.

Note the big gap without the plate....and the plate shown in primer before painting. I'm not sure why Deere does not take care of this area  as the tractor is quite vulnerable in brush.

If you work in timber....this plate addition is easy to do and may save you a punched grille - or worse.

I noticed the gap at the bottom also but couldn't figure out how to block it and let the guard hinge forward still. Never thought of a plate on the fixed side of the bracket. Great idea, I will definitely add that.

Seems to me that for the big money charged for a "deluxe" grille guard...that Deere could protect more than 70% of the front of the tractor. This plate will do so for little extra money.

I've posted on this mod before and give more details in another thread. Let me show you why you want the extra protection. Here's my old 790 before I fixed the brush guard. Timber is rough on tractors - even if your careful.
