I am planning to burn off about an acre of last year's sorghum before planting new food plots in May. My local firechief wants me to have a reliable source of water available in case TSHTF. I would like to add a fitting to my 3-pt sprayer to attach garden hose for that purpose. Could also use it to attach a wand in the future I guess if the need arises. My first thought is to T off the hose running from on / off lever to the nozzles. I would need a downstream shutoff for the nozzles to direct all flow to the firehose. A threeway valve might be useful if I could find the right one. Any suggestions??

55 gallons is probably not what he had in mind. How about 500 feet of garden hose attached to your spigot? I have had my spring cleaning get away from me. It is a pain to run and attach 300 feet of garden hose get things back under control. At my place the fire I started couldn't go that far, but that is naive thinking on my part. Unlimited supply of water is a good idea.

By the way my 55 gallon sprayer has a hand wand that I could do the garden hose thing with if I wanted to contaminate my garden hose. Both my boom and the wand hose have a quick disconnect. I plug in the quick connect up by the mixing valve/pressure regulator. TSC has them as camlocks. Tractor Supply Company - Sprayer Fittings & Connectors

Yea I agree, 55 gal will only get the fire Capt thinking not funny thoughts about you. Agreeably, it's better than nothing, but maybe you could rent a trailer with a tank of a few hundred gallons and a gas powered pump and about 100ft of hose.

When I was a kid (12), my mom and I were burning trash at the lower end of our property. Our thoughts had always been, that we kept a bucket close by and could dip water from the creek if necessary. The wind was a 5-7mph breeze. Well just after lighting the fire, and watching it build, the wind pick way up and of course got the grass on fire. Mom ran for the creek, and come back with a bucket, only to trip and fall a few few from it. That bucket MIGHT have doused it but by the time I helped her up, the flames were almost to her, and even after I threw two buckets on it, it was quickly getting out of control.

30 Min later a firetruck showed up and put out the, then half acre fire. Luckily the wind had died down or else it might have gotten even larger before they showed up. Point is, you just can't have too much water on the ready.

Do you have a water source like a pond or creek that you could put a pump into?

No water supply for 1/2 mile. I plan to bushhog field into 50 yard by 25 yard strips with about 10-12 feet between strips. Probably about 20 ft perimeter at the one end closest to the woods. Planned to disc or box scrape debris from the buffer cuts. Burn into the wind, away from the woods. Have discussed with local firechief. He asked about water availability, and was informed of the 55 gal supply. My sprayer doesn't have a wand outlet unfortunately.
I'll just have to find a 3 way valve that works. I could rig something out of PVC or copper with 2 outlet valves, but was hoping for a premade solution.

I rigged a two way hose connector on my 60g sprayer to add a hand wand in line with the boom. Easy enough to do, only cost a few bucks. Should work for you so long as you understand your limitations with your water supply.

Here is a link to the folks that made my sprayer ... it has the valve, shut offs and the hose fitting. They also sell the hose and nozzle. I am sure if you contact them they would sell the valve.
