I have a Lee Boss category 3N quick hitch. I believe Lee makes the best strongest quick hitches out there. They are over 1k new. I didn’t pay near that for mine I got it at an auction nearly ten years ago. Anyway I changed tractors and am going to all cat 2. Looking at the specs the lower hooks are identical on a cat 3N and a cat two the only difference is the top hook is 4” higher on a 3N than on a two. Any reason not to cut off the top hook and reweld it on 4” lower?

If your welds are as good as factory shouldn’t be a problem!!

I'm surprised that the top hook isn't adjustable on that. Anyway, there shouldn't be an issue with lowering it 4".

Why would you buy a QH whose top hook is not adjustable..... Since implement manufacturers can not seem to get standard right, seems a little counterproductive....

If any of my implements are not to standard I modify them so they are. Having to adjust the quick hitch defeats the purpose.

I have advocated that many times in many forums, but adjustability of top hook seem to be "standard" on most all QH's... The height/style of hook just seems to be something manufacturers can not agree on even that it is a standard...

I did the same. But his point is still valid: I moved my top hook height to one implements height (EA 8' grader blade) and then made the other implements to fit that height (which is usually the easiest to mod). If I had a non-adj top hook, then I might have had to modify the EA grader blade as well.

I bolted my top hook and have never needed to change it since then.

A QH is a "pay me now" or "pay me later" kind of deal. Fool with it once (mod the implements) or be condemned to fooling with it each and every time I want to change an implement forevermore. I'm dang glad I chose the former.

Cat 2 quick hitches do not have an adjustable top hooks....at least none of the five I looked at, none of them were adjustable.
