The tractor package(L3830) I'm looking at will include a Rhino SE6 rotary cutter. The brochure says it is available "with either a molded or laminated tire and wheel." Would someone please educate me as to which one would be preferable. I think I'm picking up from the brochure the laminated is the better of the two. Thanks in advance. Chuck

I can only say on th JD tires the laminated tire is sold as an option. The molded tire on Rhino probably won't last as long as that laminated stuff is tuff. It looks like the material horse stall mats are made from.

well i have no experience with the molded tire, but i will say that our old ford brushog has a laminated tire that has been on it since atleast the 60s acording to my father, so they deffinatly stand up pretty well, the mower has been used hard too, many cuts in the deck and all sorts of stuff, but the wheel has held up

I have a Rhino SE6 and a lighter duty 5ft cutter. Both have laminated tires, and as the other posters have indicated, I would get the laminated tire because they will last a long time. It is a higher priced option over the molded tire on the SE6, but worth it. You should also consider the slip clutch instead of shear pin PTO shaft. For what its worth, I paid $1200 for my SE6 with laminated tire and slip clutch. Its a nice piece of equipment.

The molded tire on my new howse 4 ft lasted 3 hours. Took it back to the dealer and got the laminated tire. No problems since.

Howse quality is far from being Rhino quality.

A molded tire might be alright for a RFM, but a brush hog needs the laminated tire. The laminated tire will hold up to a lot more abuse and only comes apart on very rare occasions.

Thanks for the replies everybody. I've got the tractor and equipment figured out but the small things can make a difference. Chuck
