Does anyone know where I can can buy the blow-molded tool containers that come with many of the Craftsman tool sets? You know, the black plastic boxes that are made to fit a ratchet or wrench set. Because it could be a half-mile hike back to the barn after a breakdown, I'd like to attach a basic set of tools to Ziggy. Thanks....

Craftsman makes a bunch of different size black plastic tool boxes. I use them for tools, carring cases and parts boxes. They run from $5 to around $15.

I was at Sears today and saw a bevy of heavy canvas tool bags you might want to consider as well.

I never quite could like the kits that have a place for every tool. What if you also wanted to carry channel locks? No place! A regular tool box or a nylon canvas bag lets me add what ever tool I want. My tool set grows.

The molded kit reminds me that the Sears Craftsman product line is now managed by blond bimbo yuppie's from ivey leage marketing schools that believe the key to marketing tools is to use red and black plactic, Put "Industrial" on the side of all Chinese built power tools, and always state "developes maximum 4 horsepower" on the side of all circular saws.

My unsolicited opinion. Sorry, you touched a nerve when I think of how Craftsman quality has gone down hill.

I don't know that all of the tools are the same from one set to another. Minor differences may cause problems when you try to use a generic molded tool box for your existing tools.

I use one of the 3-drawer Craftsman tool boxes for the tools I carry around most. I purchased an additional complete Craftsman tool kit in a molded tool box so that I could slide it under the rear seat of the mini-van when traveling (sometimes I don't want to carry the larger tool kit which usually has grease and dirt on it somewhere...).

Note that even with the molded kit, the tools (mainly small sockets) have a problem staying in place (I found that to be very irrating). I keep a folded rag (old bathroom hand-towel) on top of the tools and that seems to fix the problem plus provide me with a rag when needed.

I have a couple of different basic sets I carry around in the truck and the car in those cheap plastic boxes with the trays. I get the socket holders to keep sockets in order in the box. You can get them from just about anyplace that sells automotive tools.
