As far as price goes, that's up to you and your dealer. Are you going to trade your current tractor? If so, don't plan on getting the highest trade and the best cash price on what you are buying. The tractor business is not as high a profit as most think but you should spend some time checking a few dealers that you would be willing to drive to. I can tell you from my business that if a person takes the time to visit me and talk about their tractor needs, I'll give them a quote on a few models that I think would work and explain in detail the features of the models and that helps explain the different prices. I'll give them printed info and send them on their way with my phone number should they have any questions. I don't try to pressure anyone. I sell a high spec tractor and to an educated customer, that sells the tractor, not me. As far as phone and email quotes, email never gets a quote, I'll answer the email with my phone number. Phone quotes are OK if a guy is close enough to actually buy from me but if the call is half way across the country, he needs to work on that price with dealers close to him that he may actually buy from. I'm not being rude here and I have spent a lot of time helping out folks who have bought at other dealers with problems and filter numbers, etc, but every dealer has different overhead and every part of the country has a different cost of living so its just not fair that a customer may want the best price in the country from his local dealer when he lives in an area where McDonalds is paying $20 an hour.
There are some dealers that you just can't deal with at all no matter what you are buying but most dealers want to sell tractors and as long as they can make enough profit to stay in business, they will treat you OK.
Best of luck,
Ken
