Any 3440 HST or 3940 HST owners out there who want to relate their pleasure or displeasure with Montana's hydrostatic transmission? In particular, is it a 1 or 2 pedal system?
Hi Charlie. I like the hydrostat. Both are nice and they are a two pedal system. I am sure some of the HST owners will chime in here to give you their opinion soon.
So I drove a 3940 HST today. It was really smooth and nice, but the controls to the side of the seat were rubbing my legs and hips - not a very comfy seat either. My Montana dealer sells Kioti too. I tried on a DK35 and found it to fit me perfectly for the same price as the 3940, and a mighty comfortable seat, it's just not hydro. This picking a tractor thing is just plain hard! /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif
Big Charlie, here is a picture of the new R series Montanas coming out. They are HST and the deck is really open, new extremely comfortable seating and lots of standard features you expect of Montana/LG tractors.
This picture is of me at 5'11 and about 215lbs (all muscle of course) /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
These will now have adjustable steering columns and start at 28hp and go up to 49hp in an HST. A big guy will sit comfortably on these new series and they will be available very soon.
My dealer says he has some R-series on order but doesn't expect them before mid-summer. The grass here in SW-KY is starting to grow and I don't own anything capable of mowing the amount of grass I have. That Craftsman push mower I bought to mow my .20 acre yard at my old house just ain't gonna' cut it (pun intended /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif ).
Maka,
Those pictures look like R-series tractors sitting out on a dealer's lot, maybe yours. How did that happen??? Were they demonstration models only or retail models ready to be sold to willing, able, and salivating buyers?
