Sir: The tractor you are considering, when supported by a good dealer, is one tough tractor. If you look at the shift pattern on the dash, you will see that in Range 1, 2nd gear and reverse 1 are directly opposite each other, and in Range 2, 6th and reverse 2 are opposite each other. A lot of jobs can be done just going forward and back with the first shift lever. You do have to come to a complete stop and clutch, but it's as close as you can get to a shuttle shift with that Ford-designed transmission. By the way, last summer we needed gears for a 1965 Ford 2000, and we were able to use Farmtrac gears at a fraction of the cost of the same exact parts from New Holland. One man said if you bought it from an old Farmtrac dealer you wouldn't have a warranty, but that isn't completely true. If you buy one, ask if the EPG warranty applies. Granted, it's a third party warranty, but it is available through some old Farmtrac dealers and it seems to be working. JS
