montana r 3644

i have a 2006 montana r3644 and have noticed that other montanas front axles are the same width as the back tires (R4s), but my tractors front tires is 53" and my back tires is 64" outside to outside. i understand rim and tire width but the front axle is definitly shorter than the new tractors. Also can anyone clear up what a r series means or are the difference than the others. thanks for any help.

Track is adjustable on most tractors. I'm not familiar with your particular model, but in general you can remove the bolts holding the rim to the center disk and relocate the wheel from bolting to the inside side of the disk to the outside of the disk and increase the front track. Your owners manual generally will show you all the possible combinations and permutations to do this.

no adjustable rims like my ford 800 has. also what could the gain be if the tires were as wide as my back. i no looks aren't important too me. should i be concerned

My tractor is narrower on the front axle; i think if you measure inside to inside you will find them close. The back tires are wider so they stick out further. I wouldn't worry about it. If you did extend the fronts out then you will be increasing the strain on front end components.

You can gain a little more stability an hillsides from a wider front track if that's a concern. I amazed that you can't change the track width on your tractor. That's the first time that I've heard of that before on an ag machine.
