Tractor
Montana 3440 HST
I have been looking at tractors for 7-8 weeks now, as I am getting ready to purchase one. I started by looking for a "good used one", but ave been unable to find a good deal on one as of yet. I live in East Texas, so tractors are not hard to find. When I do find one I like, it is basically the same price as a new one (JD's, Kubota's, Massey's, etc.). I finally just decided to look for a new one. After looking at JD's, Kubota's, Mahindra's, TYM's (23-hp and 27-hp too small for a 5' cutter), New Holland's, etc, I found the Montana's while looking at a used Kubota. The dealer redirected me to a 3440 HST with loader and 4wd. After speaking with him, I feel like the Montana will hold up better for what I need it for. I am curious what others out there think of these tractors. It seems like the DaeDong 3-cylinder is a strong and dependable engine. Also, for the same price, I'm getting a 4wd loader tractor with 34 hp instead of 25-30. The HST trans and steering, as well as the cruise control are also nice to have thrown in at the price. The price is definitely awesome on this unit, I just wanted to know what the tractor public thinks on these units, as I'm new to the market.

You could probably get a lot of info by going to the Montana board specifically for Montana tractors. A few things to consider are you planning on keeping it forever, are parts going to be available and what is the track record. I have seen good reviews on them but these are a few points to ponder. Good luck on your tractor shopping. Whatever brand you buy I'm sure it will put a smile on your face when it arrives...

A local JCB dealer was selling these for a very short time. I never did get by there to check them out. Now they're no longer a JCB dealer and are now a Case dealership and the Montana line is gone. From what was told to me is they are made by LG. Seem to be real popular in the states of Washington/Oregon.

You may want to compare it to the Kioti CK35 HST if you have a dealer near by or drop by the Kioti forum and ask for a price quote from one of the dealers who maybe near you.

hi wjr13.

i don't have any experience with montana tractors, but i have a ck-35 and it has a very similar engine (34 hp deadong (kiotis parent company)) and have had no problems, it has plenty of power, and is easy to start.

i hope you are able to find a good tractor for your needs.

Take advantage of Kioti's free front end loader deal on the CK35 while you still can, you won't be sorry.

I'm a little way from you but have CK35 and CK35HST in stock (one each) and can deliver to east Texas if your local KIOTI dealers are out of CK35s due to the free loader special. I sold the LG tractor with a Farmtrac label, but dropped them a couple years ago as they didn't offer as many features, and were not as heavily built as the KIOTI. That brings up another possibility, you may be able to get liquidation pricing on the same LG tractor from a local Farmtrac dealer and get a new tractor at used pricing instead of a used tractor at new pricing.

First off, thanks for the advice on the Montana tractors. I did check on the Kioti CK 35's before I found the Montana dealership. They were selling for $16,000 (with free FEL), which was VERY appealing. That price blew the other guys out of the water (until I found Montana)! I think I'm gonna go ahead with the purchase of the Montana 3440 HST. The unit I'm looking at is 2 years old. My dealer picked it up from Montana after another dealer went out of business. It has some fading on the plastic/rubber around the fenders, but I can live with that. The tractor is 34 hp with HST steering and tranny, 4wd with FEL and only 9 hours on it for $12,000 (with Montana's $2000 rebate going on as of July 1). I just don't think I can find a better tractor with all the options (standard on the Montanas) for this low of a price. I feel bad for the guy who was asking about the other 3440 HST on here who was quoted over $19k for his unit. I'll try to let you guys know what I think soon! Can't wait to get on it and go to work!

When I was tactor shopping, I checked out a Mahindra dealer, kinda liked the tractor. The dealer did not carry much for service parts, (filters and such).Went to a John Deere dealer, lots of parts in stock, same with Kubota. Whatever you choose, take a look at parts that are available to you today!! Not 2 weeks out on a special order basis. When it comes time to service you tractor its nice to be able to pick up every thing you will need, one stop shopping! :D

Another thing you might be interested in, I believe you should still get the three year waranty. All the other tractor companies I looked at had a one year, I believe...I have only 30 hours on my Montana and still love it. Let us know what you buy and send pics! I am still working on that myself...I really searched this sight and others and couldn't find anyone saying anything bad about theirs...one thing I read was that the smaller ones (57 horse and lower, I think) have a dry clutch...nothing to be scared of but need to be AWARE of.

Does it look cool?
