The John Deere hyd./trans. fluid I used at the 50 hour inspection is causing a smell when the tractor is operated. It smells like there is a hyd. leak but there is none. The fluid level is ok. Any thoughts?
The engine oil analysis from Blackstone showed only normal wear for a new engine. No anti-freeze,fuel or silicon in the sample.

Did you really put that in your Kioti? I don't think I have to tell you what the smell is! It's your Kioti regurgitating that nasty green stuff up. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
Seriously, if there is no leak, if you're sure, and everything is operating as before, there should be no problem. You need to assure that what you're smelling is not the clutch. Did you do the 50 hour clutch and brake adjustment? Instructions for doing so are in the owner's manual. Also, check around all in the engine compartment and make sure you're not having a leak of ANYTHING in there.
Are there any other symptoms besides an unusual smell? Let me know. John

Sometimes just running new oil can have a smell for the first few hours. (although this may not be your case.)
I run Rotella T synthetic for engine oil.
You should get a whiff of that stuff when you first start running it. /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif

I am assuming it's the Hyd./trans. oil. I replaced the factory engine oil with Rotella 15-W30. Maybe it's the engine oil I am smelling. I parked it in the barn and on fresh snow, there are no leaks.

I very well may be hydraulic oil your smelling.
If the engine and transmission is full and you see no leaks I wouldn't worry about it. After you get a few hours on the new oil, I'm betting the smell will go away.

We usually get this same smell after a fluid change. Nothing to worry about.
