Hi, Well about a month ago the hydraulic pump went out of my 1540 the tractor has 200hrs on it. This was covered under warranty, no big deal. Well last week just got done mowing the yard with the 1540 and rear 6ft mower, and was going to move some dirt with the loader, and the front axle locked up, for no apparent reason, was stressing anything, just driving along. I investigated and decieded it was good, obviously. so i took it to the dealer and he checked it and discovered the front pinion had broke a couple teeth off and chewed the ring gear up, and he also said the hydrauilic pump was getting weak again (13hrs after it was just replaced). All this is being covered under warranty and i was given a loaner tractor (3930 4wd new holland) i have had this tractor for almost 2 yrs now and the warranty is about up. This has been a good tractor but i must be working it a little to hard and to often and things must be getting fatigued. The only major complaint i have had with the tractor has been the loader, ain't very powerful even with a good pump.
So now i am considering trading it in on a new massey 563 4wd platform 8x8 syncro shuttle (might be down grade compared to 1540 power shuttle, but clutching ain't now big deal), 1055 loader with skid steer quick-tach so i can use my current implements. The 563 has only a 6" longer wheelbase, and is 55 pto Hp, but the major thing is it a utility so i think it will handle my everyday farm chores better, and might make a better companion to my mf 1130 tractor.
Don't anybody be alarmed by my problems, i admit i am probally working the 1540 little to hard, and stressing things to much, i do this without relizing it, i work in a coal mine and am a operator, and probally expect to much from this little work horse, but the the tractor earns a 9 out of 10 vote from me, and it would be a perfect 10 if the tractor had better hydraulics.
