Tractor
2004 John Deere 4410 eHydro
The story goes on: My tractor was picked up by the dealer at 8am and as of 5pm had not made it back to the dealership.(a 45 min. drive) I told the dealer to keep it. Unless another JD dealer pops up out of nowhere I'm sorry to say I'm going to buy a New Holland. The other JD dealers all want $31,000 for the tractor I just paid $28,000. for. No offense, Deere has always been my favorite. I've owned 5. This experience has been terrible.

I still think your case is an exception. Look at all the satisfied owners of the 4310. They even have a club. It's unfortunate you had a rotten experience. I hope your NH does better even though I still think your dealer could have handled the sale far better and squelched your fears. I think the 4410 would have been a superb tractor, of course, I think the new twenty series will be even better. I see your post here and that in the NH forum as more venting then constructive. I take it with a certain amount of frustration on your part and some skepticism on my part about the intent you may have. This is not to say you have anything but the best of intentions here, but we have seen to many incidents here where flag wavers trash another brand for whatever their reasons.

They picked your tractor up at 8am, it didn't make the 45minute trip to the shop, and it hadn't arrived by 5pm? I hope you got the license plate of the truck that picked it up? Maybe you could report it stolen? It certainly says something about the dealership.

I think a NH TC35 or a Case Farmall DX35 (essentially twin machines from CNH) would be comparable machines to the 4410. It is just a shame that you have to go through the entire process again. Since this is not your first JD machine, did you buy the other units from the same dealership? Did they treat you well in the past or did you just get lucky with past machines being trouble free so you didn't really have to deal with them?

The others were construction series machines: 544C, 544D, 410C, 350 and 490E. They were great. You're right, the worst part is having to start over.

I'm not waving any one's flag nor am I trashing a brand. I'm telling my story to other guys with similar interests and receiving their qualified advice, and sympathy...

Dave, I'm sorry your dealer can't seem to get things right, its just that it is possible to log in and do what you have done over the course of weeks just to start an air of skepticism. Imagine if we thought that you could possibly be a New Holland salesman that is trying to do nothing more than use this board as a tool for a smear campaign. We have seen this before.

You haven't filled out any of your personal info and although I still believe your sincereness, I can't imagine where your tractor has gone since 8 AM this morning.
Hope you can get through this with your sanity...

Good Dave, I'm sure the NH will work out well. I think my suspicions were a little aroused because there is no way after many, many months of studying the various brands, trying them, pricing them, getting quotes from 4 dealers and getting excited about finally ordering one that upon arrival of it and having a issue like the one you had, I could simply switch to something else so quickly. I saw your NH post and it just seemed a bit odd that you were not even sure which NH to compare the 4410 too. Heck, when I got mine back 15 months ago, I could have told you more stuff about the JD 4310/4410 and 4610 as well as the NH TC35, 40 and 45, all tractors I tried and compared while finally settling on my current tractor. Perhaps though I am also not understanding your full story either and the emotion you experienced with the 4410. Again, nothing but the best wishes to you and your experience with your new tractor. It's your money and you should get what you think is getting you the best value, that and a great running tractor for many years to come. /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

Well you certainly are an educated, multi-brand tractor buyer. I didn't research any other brands. The one thing I was sure of was that I wanted a John Deere Tractor. I researched tractors only within the brand. If you look back at my previous postings you'll find I was very satisfied with the capabilities of the 4410. I've decided to today propose to the dealer that I will accept my tractor back if his outfit will effect a one year extension to the manufacturers warranty, either underwritten by Deere or provided by his dealership itself. I will go forward on the premise that the problem with the tractor is an isolated, electronic one that will be repaired and that the machine will from this point on give me many years of reliable service. Thanks to all you other guys for reading and posting your thoughts. I understand I've been "venting" a bit but you're the only guys I can vent to and get good advice from. I think we all know we can't complain to our wives about our tractors! Onward and upward!

Dave,

Good luck with your resolution. Just to offer a little insight, I had a warranty issue that was ultimately resolved through a trade-up. The dealer was unable to offer an extended warranty but the JD Area Manager was willing to offer an extended warranty on the specific component and any potential directly related failures. They were not willing to extend the warranty on the entire machine, which makes sense to me.

Again, good luck.
