Thanks Roy for the loader info (didn't know that).. Yes, the first one does include both. Did yours come with a rotary cutter when you bought it. What HP is yours? I noticed they range from 34-30. And is it me or does the tractors seem to be cheaper up north?
Will I notice a big difference in the different loaders between 70, 419, and 300? Ya, if the Ark. one would being willing to do some negotiating, I would have to drive down and pick it up. That would be a trailer, I really think we should just buy one, since we really could use one other than hauling around the tractor.
Again thanks Roy for the help.
The 790 has had 3 engines. The first was rated at 30 HP (Gross) and 25 PTO HP. That engine was also larger (91 CID vs. 81 CID for the later engines). This engine was replaced in 2001 or 2002. Best word I ever got was the 790 was too competitive with the 4200 and 4300 series tractors, so it was de-rated.
The machines your looking at both have the 30 HP engine.
The replacement engine was 27 Gross HP, 24 at the PTO. That engine was replaced in 2004 or 2005 (I think). That's the engine in my 790.
The current engine is also 27 Gross and 24 PTO HP. I've no idea why Deere went to this latest engine. The only thing I don't like about my 790's engine is the oil dipstick is a pain to get to (the latest engine's dipstick is a lot easier to get to). It's possible Yanmar stopped building that engine for one reason or another.
As far as the loader...that really depends on your intended usage. The 70 loader has a max capacity of about 650 lbs, if I recall. It lifts to about 75". The 419 has less capacity at max height, but lifts 88" (so, at 75", the 419 is stronger then the 70).
All the 790's 3PH capacity is 815 lbs or so, but can actually go higher.
When I bought mine, it was just the tractor and FEL.
Prices do seem to be dependent upon geographical location. It also seems (based upon my review or prices on Machinefinder.com) that used 790 prices have increased over the last couple years. That's not a scientific study...just something I noticed. The lowest prices seem to be in the South East (but I've never looked west of the Mississippi).
Anyway, these are nice machines...old designs though. Nice ones sell fast though.
What are your intended uses?
