John Deere 2025r
The first two years i owned my JD 2025r i had no issues. I finally get it paid off and have roughly 170 hours, tons of issues. I won't rant right now about the pto issue that cost me $1800.00.

This morning i was unhooking my tiller, tractor was idling with the break on and i heard a POP. From under the hood in front of the steering wheel, a cloud of smoke came out and it smelled like electrical burning. I turned off the key but nothing happen, the tractor kept running. I opened the hood, nothing obvious.
I pulled it up to the house and started thinking about how to shut it off when i noticed a small amount of oil starting to drip underneath. I unhooked the battery, no luck so finally my brain started working and i turned off the fuel.

I'm at a loss on what might have failed and why would oil start dripping. I walked away from it to calm down but will start my troubleshooting soon.

Any thoughts?

Nope, because my 2025r is older, it doesn't have the 60month warrarnty like the newer years do!
Just found the issue, this solenoid blew apart and the oil is coming from it.

If it's out of warranty call the dealer anyway. They might fix it for nothing, you never know.. I just did a bunch of work and spent a pile of money on mine little did I know the fuel system is covered beyond the regular warranty.. I would think on your fuel shutoff solenoid there is a manual button to push the rack in on the injector pump that will shut it down..

I tried to add pictures, but the OK button disappears after browsing for the files.
Here is the part

Ha, it doesn't have a manual shutdown, that looks like a solenoid off of a lawn mower, surprising for a R Deere to have such a thing..

Luckily they are cheap, sometimes they fill with oil and self destruct.. That's an easy fix for ya, glad it wasn't something to bad.. Apparently there is no fuse for your solenoid?

How did this thread end?? I’ve got the same issue (same model tractor). The fuel solenoid was obviously part of the problem (it actually blew apart). I replaced it with the OEM solenoid and it also failed within 10 minutes of running.

That seems strange..

Bad relay?
Maybe energized with key on and not just while cranking?

There is some troubleshooting on the web if u Google “fuel shutoff solenoid burning up”
Involves relay check, adjustment rod (if present), bad ground issue etc
