John Deere 3520
I bought a 3720 cab tractor brand new in 07, and loved it. Someone stole it off a job site this spring, and I ended up having to replace it with a 3520.

I love the tractor. But the 37 had just the right amount of power. The 35 does just fine, but I always cringe when I feel the load match kick in on the 3520 when the same load on the 3720 would have not been an issue.

I don't think I will do anything until the tractor is out of warranty, but at some point I'm sure I'm going to do something.

I've already put the vertical exhaust on, and that actually did help bump up the power a bit. Almost to where it runs close to what the 3720 did with the stock exhaust.

I don't think just bolting on the intercooler from a 3720 is going to do much good, but I could be wrong. Has anyone else modified injection pumps, or injectors on one of these?

Bill, I have a 3520 and just put on the vertical exhaust, but still find I get a face full now and then. I'm thinking of doing several things to improve this: 1)lengthen the pipe 3-6 inches. I think it is made short so it will have about the same height as a folded roll bar.
2)remove the bend at the end of the pipe and install a flapper. If the exhaust shoots straight up, it should be less of a problem.
3)at the upper end of the pipe, install a short reducer pipe(same size as original down pipe) so the exhaust exits at a higher speed that with the much larger vertical pipe diameter.

Any comments or suggestions?

Well OK, I gone done it. I cut the curved end off the vert. pipe, cut a section out of the original down pipe and had a muffler shop join the two different pieces. I now have a 3-4 inch extension with a curved tip. Once I get these parts back to NH where the 3520 is, I will try it out and if it all works as expected, I'll weld the seam. If I still get exhaust in my face, I'll cut the curved tip off of the modified pipe and add a "flapper" to keep the water out when the tractor is not in use.

Would like to see a pic of that extension.... and another after it is chromed, for sure. :D

Probably won't get the modified pipe up to NH until after Christmas. I'll check out my little experiment then and see if it blows ALL of the exhaust up over my head. If it does, I will take a picture of it and post it on this site. If it doesn't pan out, I have a few other ideas I'll try. Chrome? Not for me.
