the pedal for moving the tractor (especially reverse!) requires more effort than I think is necessary - This must be adjustable....Has anyone done this? I searched unsuccessfully for this challenge but yesterday I searched and completed adjustment of the throttle lever - Much more user friendly now!!

I assume you greased the pivot on the pedal?

Same as BP, need to keep them lubricated. There may be a return spring, but I have never had to adjust any of mine. Good luck

Has this been the case since you first bought it? Mine started being hard to push, and I found a stick was jammed in the controls. Pulled it out, and it worked fine.

I wouldnt mess with spring- is pretty finicky for reverse and forward stop. I messed with mine and now i got it setup in a way i like it.

I agree you should be greasing it. make sure you are using the lighter duty grease instead of same grease you put in loader, mower. Reason is that lighter duty grease is easier to to push with on HST pedal and doesnt "gum" up.

I think they have some kind of a gas strut as a centering/dampener. They will fail sometime so you might want to have a look at it.

I Suspect the centering damper may be the culprit....The linkage is lubed and free, no sticks or other obstruction, nothings bent or damaged......Anyone know how to test the function of the centering damper??? ("speed control pedal damper") - also I'm thinking I need a proper manual for this machine...

The damper is basically a shock with NO spring to neutral position. It should push in and pull out with approximately equal force. I would expect these to fail by getting easier to move not harder but who knows....

Problem solved! I was quick to think there was a failure of a part (pessimistic?) but took a break and went back to square one....more searching the archives lead me to a post by someone that said a sticking HST pedal was successfully dealt with by lubrication of the linkages....Yeah yeah yeah I said to myself I did that....The post went on to say that they spent AN HOUR lubing the linkages....this made me review my work a little more thoroughly and in doing so I discovered the actual culprit.....As I reviewed the pedal and linkages from end to end more carefully I found that there was a cable that had become mis-routed and was rubbing on the arm of the HST pedal. I repositioned this cable and oila! Bob's yer uncle!:D:D YIPPEEEEE!

Glad you found the problem and it was simple. Always the best kind of fix.:D
