More tractors are better than less tractors ...

So, there I was, puttering around in the yard on a day off and I said to myself: "Self, wouldn't it make a nice picture if all the tractors were lined up in a row?" My Self agreed and so we made it happen.

From the front. Left to right are:
My new JD 990
My 60ish year old Ford 9N with home made loader
My Dad's Farmall M with front mounted post driver
My Dad's Case DC4

I suddenly realized that there were two that were left out.
A 1 year old Sears riding mower and an old Case riding mower (early to mid 70's vintage).

So, how about it? Anyone else want to line up all their toys and post a "family" portrait?

Actually, we don't have six tractors.

We have NINE if you count the non-functional ones. Add a Simplicity garden tractor (also early to mid 70's vintage), an Oliver 80 (I think it might run but is at another property and is in pretty poor shape) and an Oliver 60 (in pieces).

I have a lot of seat time on an old "M". We used to run an oat crimper off of the pulley during the winter months. I remember when the muffler fell off of the M and almost lit a freshly dried hay crop on fire. Those old tricycles would take your thumbs off when you hit a hole with the front wheels. I even drive a car with my thumbs turned out. A testament to the hours I spent on that tractor when I was a kid.

I also had one of those Case garden tractors. Mine was a 1976 446. They're built like sherman tanks. I sold it to a good friend of mine (almost had a tear in my eye as it drove off). Have you ever done a search for "Case garden tractors" on the web or ebay? There's still a large following for those machines. One of the best is a Yahoo users group. You can get any part or advice for those things.

I can't line up all my tractors as they are spread out across three farms. But here is a list,

Now for lawn tractors,

2 old Sears riders
John Deere Rider
couple MTD's
and a few old ones that no longer run but hide in the bushes watching the others play. Maybe some day I will have a tractor reunion and bring all the machines to one farm for a picture but it won't happen anytime soon. This list is of my machines along with my grandfathers machines (which will eventually be mine but hopefully no time soon).
