I recently had driveway work done which included installing a 10" corrugated plastic culvert under it. Since the phone line was in the path the dozer operator said they normally just cut it and then call in for repair. I asked him to avoid cutting it if at all possible because we did not want the "inconvenience" of waiting 5 days for a repair. He complied and now we have a culvert that allows about 1/4" of water to stand in part of it. My bad! What solutions do I have for this? I have thought of pouring a floor leveling compound or hydraulic cement in it to fill in the low spot. We can sacrifice some of the cross-sectional area because 10" is more than we need. It is 20 feet long.

I'd bet the hydraulic cement would do it - great idea.

Thanks for the encouragement. I think that is the way I'll go. Swab the water out, pour a thin mixture and hope it flows all the way out. It probably won't bond to the plastic but will act as a "molded" insert but that should be just fine. I'll mix up a thin test solution, test its flow properties and see if it sets and go from there.

How far down in the culvert is the low spot?? I am betting if it is in/near the middle, you will have a hard time getting the compound in there.

If it were mine, I'd dig it up and do it right. Or make the guy you paid do it right, since he did a poor job.

Did a poor job? He did exactly what the customer asked him to do.

To the OP, if it is only standing an inch or so, I don't think you will have that much of a problem.

I dont see how the middle of the culvert being deeper (holding water) has any bearing on the phone line. The middle should have been cut a little shallower than it was, which wouldnt have hurt the phone line.

you can try and pour some oil in the center of the culvert they do not like most oils like tea tree oil or any type of heavy cented or heavy weight oil crud oil works also but not so nice on the enviromemt
