Most embarrassing moment

We have just been to Edinburgh for a few days and while we were there I saw a guy with a camera bag over his shoulder. Hanging from one of the straps was a very flimsy pair of ladies briefs /w3tcompact/icons/laugh.gif - very brief - you know the kind where the price bears no relation to the amount of material. /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif They had obviously become snagged while walking round one of the stores.

I pointed them out to my wife and we both had a little laugh to ourselves. I decided that I ought to mention it to him to save further humiliation. When I told him about it both he and the girl he was with were very embarrassed and quickly grabbed hold of them to take back to the store.

Later that night I got to thinking what was my most embarrassing moment. There have been quite a few but the one which sticks out most in my mind is this one:

Back in the early 1980's I worked part-time for a friend who was assistant manager in a jeans store. One morning it was very quiet and I was having a really good yawn and stretch, both arms stretched out at my sides and fingers flexing. I suddenly became aware that my left hand had got hold of something soft. I looked slowly to see that I was squeezing a teenage girls right breast. /w3tcompact/icons/shocked.gif /w3tcompact/icons/blush.gif /w3tcompact/icons/blush.gif /w3tcompact/icons/blush.gif My hand shot away like I had just had an electric shock and I spluttered an apology, fortunately the girl had realised what happened and saw the funny side of it. It took quite some time for my face to resume its normal colour. /w3tcompact/icons/blush.gif

Ah, the old 'Stretch, Yawn and Grab' technique /w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif. Sort of a variation (and improvement /w3tcompact/icons/blush.gif) on a similar technique that simply results in an arm around the shoulder.

When I was in high school I used to lifegaurd at a local beach. We had to wear speedo swimsuits. We used to wear gym shorts over them for modesty. One morning, all of the gaurds went down to the beach early to do some practice before we opened. We all took off our gym shorts and threw them on the table. One of the girl gaurds looked me straight in the eye and said, "I hope you know you're standing there in your underwear", and fell on the sand laughing. So did the rest of the staff. I put on my gym shorts and retreated to the locker room. Looking back on it, the underwear were probably less revealing than the speedo, but a guy in his undies is always a great laugh.

When I was a teenager growing up in Southern Cal I was a very active scuba diver. Spent so much time in the water I got in the habit of wearing nothing under my custom blue wetsuit. Like all teens, I was poor and growing. Grew so much the wetsuit became a pretty tight fit and I couldn't afford alterations. On one dive, accompanied by a righteous babe, the diamond-shaped crotch of my wetsuit popped right off and floated away! /w3tcompact/icons/shocked.gif Everything was hanging out for public view (the water was very cold, so not much was hanging out!) and my babe-buddy was laughing so much all I could see of her was a mass of bubbles. The only way I could think of to preserve my dignity was to stuff a glove into the gaping hole. Unfortunately, my gloves were bright orange and the thumb stuck straight out! At the end of the dive I had to walk across the beach with a bright orange thumb sticking out of my crotch!

It was a mortifying experience! /w3tcompact/icons/crazy.gif

MossRoads post just jogged my memory....

A few years back I took a new job to be the Project Manager of a small project. On the first day of the job, I had to drive down to Headquarters for new hire orientation. One of my team members, Cindy, started the same day and the hiring manager asked if they could ride along with me to the orientation. Sure, no problem. This also gave me the chance to get to know part of my team.

Our job site was near Camp David, Maryland and Headquarters was in Fall Church, Virginia. So, it was about an hour and half drive. So, with it being in the early morning and I having my prerequisite 4 cups of coffee, a stop was necessary. We stopped at a fast food place to take care of business /w3tcompact/icons/blush.gif.

Got back into the car and finished the trip to Headquarters. Now keep in mind that I'm Cindy's supervisor, we just met, and both are trying hard to be nice to each other. We get to the Headquarters parking lot, me all proud in my new suit and going into the orientation with one of my "people". We get out of the car and just as we are going into the building, Cindy blurts out, "Terry, ahhh, excuse me... but.... your zipper is down!!" Ack!!!! Oh well, such is life...

Heres ONE of mine. Years ago I was sent to a customer in Minnesota to design a new computer system. As I was driving to lunch, with a few the executives, we got on the subject of snow. That’s when I said “I hate the stuff and it should only snow once a year, starting December 24 and quit on the 25th”. Then I noticed that everyone in the car was looking at me with very strange faces. I quickly realized that I had to amend my statement to the gentlemen of Polaris Industries to include “that is unless you’re in the snowmobile business” /w3tcompact/icons/blush.gif
