My spouse has noticed small dig holes in about a half dozen places in the vegetable garden. Sometimes they are near roots and other times in the side of a raised earthen bed. Seems to be looking for grubs and has not yet affected the veggies/fruit. Eventhough I think it might be a chipmunk I thought I might try a motion camera to catch it in the act. Would also like to see what the birds are doing as I think they are often seen in and near the garden. My thinking is that they are on beetle patrol. Now to the question...are there any wireless motion cameras that work well with respect to triggering and photo capturing small moving animals?

Any of the game cameras on the market will detect small animals.

Do a little research on the time delay aspect. All those cameras aren't created equal. I have an 80 dollar one that does an OK job for what I need but there is a few seconds delay from when an animal appears in view and when photographed.

But be forewarned, the advertised delay times are mostly BS. :D If you have an animal digging around for insects, most of them should work fine. Birds on the other hand can be tricky to catch with slower cameras.

Just get a small animal Havahart trap and catch whatever is doing this.
Or use the game camera. :)

Thanks for the replies. I didn't realize that a game camera would pick up on small animals. Also thank you for alerting me to trigger delays. Right now I see no need to capture it as it seems like a solo intruder. To help a bit I need to cut down grass/weed cover nearby.

I was having tomatoes peked up in the garden i suspected the neighbors chickens, so i put my game cam up on a post about 12" off the ground watching down my tomaoto row. I cought the suspect chickens as well as squirrels digging holes planting pecans or something (not in season yet?) in my garden, the neighbors dog, neighbors cat, my cat, and my dog. So yes they will work on small animals, though often times if say a bird is at 15 feet he may stay there and dig but that may not be enough to trigger the camera. I had mine set to videos, which it takes 30 second clips. I have i think game cam or something i got it on sale after thanksgiving for $80.
