Having just bought a motorcycle, I had to make the decision between two cylinders, three, or four, overhead cams or pushrods, two valves per cylinder, or four, etc., and it got me to thinking, I have NO idea what type of motor is in my B1700. It must be overhead valve I assume, flatheads went out with the 8N, but does it have pushrtods or an overhead cam? If overhead cam, is it chain driven or belt? Are there 2 valves per cylinder? Anybody know??

PaulB, what kind of MC did you get.... Your motor in the B is painted orange, that is about all I know.... No maybe it is gray....

Overhead valves, two per cylinder, gear driven solid lifter cam with pushrods. Three vortex combustion chamber (TVCC) which basically means combustion begins in a small chamber where the injector and glowplug reside (also known as a pre-combustion chamber) and continues into the cylinder for complete combustion. makes for a very efficient and clean burning engine. Just a reminder while we're on the subject of precombustion chambers. Never use ether to start one of these engines, the rapid expansion of gases in such a small area can ruin your day, or at least your engines day.
