I have just purchased a Massey Ferguson 240.
It stalls after using it for 10-15 min - it is like you shut it down - no or little miss fire before it stops - I think it has a fuel issue as it starts after about 20 min. Going to replace filters - do they suffer from fuel restrictions?
3 cyl Perkins diesel.

Thanks
Ray

Welcome to tbn.

It always is a good idea to change the filters on a new-to-me tractor. If that doesn't fix the problem check the fuel tank for debris that could be clogging the outlet.

Good luck!

If changing the filters and checking the tank for trash or fuel bacteria doesn't work ,check that the fuel tank cap is venting properly . Loosen it right after it dies and see if it restarts.

Yeah, didn't think of the fuel cap, that's an easy check to make.

I know of a guy who scored a beautiful cab-Over Peterbilt for $800 bucks--the seller could not figure out how to keep the truck running and gave up. The engine would run for a few minutes, then quit. After a lot of troubleshooting, the new owner found a discarded "dry gas" bottle in the fuel tank......the plastic bottle would get sucked into the fuel pickup and starved the engine of fuel, that's all it was...

Wow! Did he offer it back to the owner and charge him for the "repair?"

Change the 2 external fuel filters first and if the problem persists, then there is a small fuel filter in the fuel tank that can get blocked. To check this disconnect the fuel line from the tank-to-first-filter at the first filter. If there is a strong flow ,then your problem is elsewhere. If however the fuel flow is feeble then the fuel cock filter is blocked or restricted. To remove this you need to remove the fuel cock. Drain the tank if possible,if not get a funnel and pipe and bucket to reduce the mess. NB you cannot see the fuel cock filter by looking ing the fuel cap due to the shape of the fuel tank.
I had a 135 which is an earlier version of the 240. It had a similar problem. The easiest way to get mobile was to blow back through the fuel cock to clear the floating crap (fuel cock filter removed as to tiny and blocked easily) away as the fuel tank proved impossible to clean out properly .
