Is as predicted by myself, the Toyota Tacoma, all new for 05 and in 06 to be followed by the new and ever larger Tundra. May the flames begin! /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

HA haaaaaaaaaaa! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Even Honda is getting into the act! YIKES for the US Auto industry. My first US car ever is a 2004 Jeep Rubicon I bought. 14MPG on ave and I need premium to keep it from pinging itself to death. When it gets cold as heck the tranny is almost unshiftable.

I wouldn't trade it for anything offered today, but! If Toyota came out with a 4WD, 4 seat, convertable, with an in-line 6,and a manual tranny (round headlights would be nice too) I would be all over it!

I've had 2 Toyota's, and was amazed by both. Great cars..

As for pickups, I think it is the interior and the intangeables that the US industry lacks. /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif Though I haven't looked at them lately, so I could be wrong now. /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Even with the new Tundra they still won't have enough truck for most of us.

I had to walk away from a Dodge guy yesterday telling me how his Hemi powered 4 door 4X4 1500 was going to pull a three car hauler around the country just fine.

Those pickups are just fine for running to HD or Lowes or hauling furniture. And gawd knows they're better'n they used to be. But "Truck" means a ten grand or better GVW.

Back in August I purchased a 04 Tacoma, I was going to say my first forgien pick-up but it is assembled in this country.

I had a couple of Jeep pick-ups and a Chevy which I drove for many miles each. I must say I really like the Toyota, especially the fuel milage. The one thing that I don't really understand is why are they making the small trucks into bigger trucks which use more fuel when gas prices look like they are not due to get much lower than they are right now.

I purchased a smaller truck to get better fuel economy for back and forth to work, can't afford to have a weekend truck and work car too. For my point of view the Toyota deserves the truck of the year award.

Back in the 50' there was many an hour spent on painting flames on the customized cars of choice!

The reason is that many of these trucks are sold as WORK trucks. The more work they need to do, the bigger the truck and the motor need to be. I don't care if Toyota GAVE me on of these trucks, you won't find me pulling a 10k pound trailer of firewood with a 5k pound truck. I'll keep my Excursion. I get heated leather and it pulls 10k pounds like it's not there... /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif
