Prokop:

What is your state's law regarding roadkill?

Many states will claim the carcass as their own. Unless you meet 3 conditions it probably belongs to the state and you might end up in trouble for taking it. The conditions: 1. it must be in season, 2. you must have a tag for it, and 3. you must take it with a legal weapon. Even if you meet 1 and 2, I very much doubt that your motorcycle is a legal weapon.

There was a guy who recently posted a video of how he cleaned, cooked and ate a grouse that flew into a window on his house. The state he was in came after him big time -- no way was his house a legal weapon. Their position was that he had committed a crime by not turning the dead grouse over to the state.

Interesting point, Dave. The practise in VA is that the deer stays on the side of the road till the vultures, foxes etc eat it up. The state sometimes sends out crews who either toss carcasses further from the road or collect them and dispose of them in the landfill.

I am going to ask game warden about it.

BTW, from the now repaired motorcycle I saw a 10 pointer in somebody's front yard this morning and small buck crossed the road right in front of me. I slowed down to 3rd gear, LOL!
