I was looking to add some saddlebags to my bike and needed a bracket. I was stunned at the cost of some chintzy brackets, so I decided to make my own out of Sched 40 PVC and some mending braces. I had most of the materials already, so it was just a matter of putting it all together.

It seems to work well for me. I know it isn't pretty, but it works and the price is right!

It's always good when we save some cash and have fun tinkering out in the garage! And now you'll be able to tell which bike is yours in a crowded parking lot. :)

like 'em. Won't the bags cover then any way?

If, as it appears to me in that photo, they are anchored to the chain guard, I would be worried that the loaded bags would cause the chain guard to bend and touch the chain/hub and cause some damage.

When the bags are installed you can't see it the brackets.

The brackets are not attached to the chain guard, it just looks like it in the photo. The bag actually rests a little lower on a bar. The brackets just keep the bag from sagging into the wheel.
