Hey everyone,
I’m rebuilding an old Mott flail I got off Craigslist. I just tore everything completely down, took an inventory of what’s broken, and cleaned everything up. I’m working on the cutter shaft now. According to the parts manual I have there are two different shafts, that is, lower number of blade brackets on shaft for coarse cut and more brackets for a finer cut. I have the fine cut shaft. I think I counted 52 stations for blades on the shaft with 2 blades per station. I should be able to salvage maybe 70 of the total 104+- blades. I bought this with the intention of doing more rough cutting so before I spend money on refitting it with the fine cut blades can I use hammer blades instead? Would I space them apart because of the weight increase?
