You all probably already know all this stuff but I just received it today so thought I would pass it along. I contacted Customer Service at Alamo asking about PTO RPM for a Mott 48" and Charles Hurla responded in a few minutes with a copy of the original operating manual (aka Instructions and Parts List) last updated in 1984 that covers Mott Hammer Knife Mowers as sold through Yanmar, includes YM38, YM48, YM60, Y38, Y48, Y60 mowers. It clearly states that the mower should be operated at high rpm (800 RPM) PTO speed. I do not know about you all but I have searched every way for this manual and then received it in minutes from Alamo. Thank you Alamo. I have attached the manual / instructions. FWIW, my YM155 came with YM38. It has a sticker for 800RPM PTO but the lever has a factory block installed preventing the lever from going into that position. We have been operating the mower at 540RPM doing about 1/2 acre at a time and it seems to perform ok (no vibration, does a good job).
