my father in law is looking at getting a FEL for his L38??, I plow his driveway in the winter (currently with a 72" back blade) and am looking at the possibility of mounting the current back blade on the FEL when/if he gets it, has anyone had any experience with anything that mounts to a quick attach frame like this
I have also seen a lighter version that mounts to the bucket but am a little leery of plowing with it (like this one)

advice??? (should I just look for a snow plow attachment??? seems like a snowplow would be overkill for his small driveway, it currently takes 30-45 mins to plow with the back blade)

Thanks

From what I understand, usually the moderators do not allow linking to ebay.

SKID LOADER , 3 POINT HITCH HOOK ADAPTER
You would have to fabricate your own adapter or modify the 3 point skid steer adapter that is listed to fit your loader.

3 POINT ATTACHMENT ADAPTER bucket loader
The second listing might work but there are a lot of forces involved when pushing snow. The lower hooks over the cutting edge of the bucket might hold up but the chain coming over the top of the bucket to hold the top link could bend the metal across the top of the bucket. If the blade is angled while pushing snow it could slide the whole assembly sideways on the bucket

If it only takes 30-45 minutes with the blade on the back of the tractor were you have use of the loader, why make the loader unusable by covering it with the blade?

good to know, will avoid it in the future

if the FEL has a universal quick hitch adapter on it I should be able to just swap attachments...

that is more or less what I was thinking, looked like a good idea for light work but not for real work...

the idea is to make it so I can move the snow without digging up the lawn like currently happens, however thinking more about it, with the FEL bucket on the front and a power angle back blade on the 3pt (possibly with a hyd toplink) my current problems should be more or less solved...

thanks for the comments and helping me gel the idea in my brain.

In general, mounting a blade to the FEL is not a good idea. It will hang so far out front, it will be difficult to control. Any dip in the front or the tractor or rise in the rear, will make the blade more up and down several inches. If your worried about digging up the lawn now, wait until you try it with the blade attached to the FEL on a 3pt adapter. I bought an old meyer snow blade for $75 and modified it to fit on my FEL skid steer attachment. Now the blade is much closer to the FEL and the chain on the blade allows it to float over the ground on the skid shoes. If I tip the blade forward more it clears close to the ground, if I tip it back, it will clear the ground by 2". I already had a 3 pt adapter for my FEL, bought a Cat 1 drawbar from TSC, and bolted it onto the blade frame. A set of hoses from the rear hydraulics angles the snow blade for me. Total cost about $350 including the adapter. I bought the adapter off ebay 2 year ago for $200.
