A while back I found a post here somewhere on how to build a Mega Mouse Catcher. I'll be headed up to my cabin this weekend and I'm going to do a little trapping. Here's my concoction.

As you notice I even put a piece of wire on there to strap some bacon or cheese to.

I'm going to put some windshield washer solution in the bottom so it doesn't freeze.

If it works well I won't be able to post the graphic pics here but I'll give you the count....Hopefully it works....

Where's camp John?

I've seen many types like this before. My buddy who uses one puts a little bleach water in the bottom to help with the odor. But if your in camp more often it should be good.

John,

Excellent pictures! Very helpful. I need to kill a bunch of mice out by the "barn" and can't find the poison I was looking to buy. Don't like poison anyway. This looks like an easy, cheap, and efficient method.

Thanks.

I do have one concern though. Is the Mouse Trap so heavy that I have to haul it around in my tractor bucket? Or is that just an excuse to run the tractor? :D:D:D

Later,
Dan

Mornin John,
Yep, that looks like the ticket ! I got the same visual in my mind, from Stumpfields thread on Mouse Proofing ! :) I will try mine out next weekend, we can compare notes ;) :)

Good Luck!

looks like it will work ok, just wondering how are the mice getting up top? you digging small hole & setting near level with corner of barn or boards running up to the top??? use peanut butter for bait. sticky, stays wet gives off lots of smell and mice love it!

I'm going to set it alongside my wood pile I have stacked against the cabin. The top of the container will be level with a log. Just like walking the gangplank. Keeping mice out of my cabin is almost as testy as keeping squirrels out of the birdfeeder. Had a little snow last time I was there and seen where the tracks were coming from. Looked like a deer run...

I was thinking about building a homemade mouse cooker using my fence charger and or I also have an old used ignition transformer, 6000 volts :) I think that would make the hair on them stand up !? ;)

You just need some barn cats. Our place came with a handful of cats and we haven't had the slightest bit of a mouse problem all year. I just keep some cat food out to keep them happy with staying at our property. And then you get cute kittens to play with too...or sell to the highest bidder in the Wal-Mart parking lot.
