Second the vacuum suggestion. You may find next summer that sweet gum balls are like spiky ball bearings, just as bad for traction as wet leaves.

don't have to wait until next summer - I pretty much have a spiky carpet surrounding the driveway courtesy of the sweet gum trees. They don't feel too good under shoes either.

mower vac is a good idea...going down the driveway; coming back up not so much fun, but doable

I think I would look at Chipper like this one: Best Wood Chipper Shredder The Echo Bearcat I saw a video on hooked to what appeared to be an 8n Ford was being spoon feed some very small limbs or branches.

I am lazy when it comes to limb removal. I cut the limbs off, haul to the burn pile using the FEL tractor forks. This is still a job. Years ago I purchased one of the Troy Bilt Chippers for shurbery clipping when living in the city. It was okay for small clippings but did not like being feed oak or bradford pear limbs. Hickory would put it into another world. The thing had a twelve horse motor and hardwood would really task it.
