Moving 24x22 garage.

Not everyone needs permits. The chief of police in my town bought a 2 car garage from a neighbor of mine. He jacked it up onto a flatbed trailer, and 9:30 on Sunday morning he hauled it past my house with his pick-up and about 5 miles further to his house.

I know cops don't make the law but they sure are good at choosing which ones to enforce.

Hey, we all have our pick-and-choose cafeteria-style morals.

I live lakeside.
Some 30-40 years back they moved a 16 X 24 building down some 20 miles of road across the lake on the ice to the new site.
It was jacked up and placed on logs that acted as skids and it was then towed with a tracked FEL to the new site.
In this case there were no power lines and our lake is at the end of a dead end road so not even an escort or permit.
Heck most chalets never had a building permit.
How things have changed, today you need a permit to cut a dead tree and building near a lake is a nightmare of paperwork permits soil analysis percolation tests etc etc.
They even now have specs for retaining walls down to the size of rocks used.
WE have gone enviro nuts!

Brace & jack the building up a few feet. Remove air cleaner and exhaust pipe (temp, as needed) to drive the 4010 inside, then reattach 'em. Lower the building onto the tractor, add more bracing as needed, and drive it down the road. Sounds easy once you've done it. (BTDT, 20' x 24', walled & insulated, JD 500C BH ...)

IMO, not much different on the highway than driving a combine; observers and follow vehicle with flashers. Two miles only seems far at a walking speed. I'd be most concerned with how level the o'all route to destination is once underway. TOG

Give some thought to the grade issue. If you think it's too steep you might want to consider a second tractor or vehicle to assist in braking or pulling if needed. Never fun to have the rear wheels sliding with a big load chasing you down a hill or dragging you backwards down one. Don't ask me how I know,,,,,,, but I know:thumbsup:

Not a bad idea to have a vehicle behind with a strap attached as a precaution. With hydraulic brakes, there's not much backup on the 4010.
