If I can't sell my 4110 before the move, I will have to transport it approx 350 miles. It measures a hair over 20 ft with loader and finish mower. Has anyone tried moving a smaller tractor like this in a a u haul truck? I can get a 26 footer for approx 400 dollars one way and still have room for other things.

Big problem with securing it. How far do you have to move it? If just across the state or so why not have a roll back wrecker do the job?

I see what you are thinking, its an idea, but securing your machine will be difficult. I think the Uhaul you are referring to is called a JH, my dad rents them out so that's how i know. I'm pretty sure it will take the weight on well since we occasionally store wood stoves in Uhauls which can weigh near 1k pounds depending on which one and we load the trucks to the max. If you do go this route, i would suggest tying the tractor down in some way, putting blocks under your tires so It cant move forward or reverse in transport, and getting the uhaul insurance for your cargo. Another idea is renting a uhaul car trailer but I'm not sure if your tractor will fit due to the width of the ramps on the trailer since the middle is just hollow and deck-less. Or you could hire a hotshot (pickup and flat bed trailer) to transport your machine. It cant cost that much to go 350 miles especially with such a small tractor. Probably call around different trucking companies and getting rates to see whether having a hot shot haul it is cheaper than a uhaul.

It's tunning about 1.25 to 1.50 per mile from the car haulers. That could end up being the best way to go. I just have these visions on someone pulling away with my JD and never seeing it again.

i know a guy who hauled his nissian truck in the back of a uhaul just park it in front of the wheel wells and leave in gear and set the parking break. and dont tell the uhaul dealer know what your doing. and yes buy the insurance for the cargo

Kinda back to square one. When inquiring about a U Haul for my shop equipment, they had a special on a 17 footer for 199 bucks. I figured if I can transport my bush hog in my small 5 x 10 trailer, I could get the 4110, bucket and box blade in the U Haul.
Now as far as securing it, there is nothing inside to tie to. Would it be possible to build a
2 x 6 box to put on the floor and brace against the truck sides to keep the tractor in place?

Just trying to figure alternatives. The tx companies are wanting 500 bucks and will give me a 3-4 day window to pick up.

If you are going to move it in a box truck pull it all the way forward till it hits the front wall. That way it will not move forward in a panic stop. Well most stops. Now get some scrap lumber and nail it to the floor as chalks in both the front and rear of each wheel. U-hauls I have used had a wooden tie down rail on both sides. Not the best but better than nothing to hook straps too and cinch down. Should be no issue.
