Just recently purchased a 1023E with the 54" Auto Connect deck. Love the auto connect feature and have really been enjoying the machine. I've mowed twice and decided to do some preventative lubrication so I removed the deck and started looking at grease fittings. Pretty straight forward. And then I got to the Auto Connect portion.

What, if anything, do people use to lubricate the auto connect male / female connection? Not the PTO shaft U joints, but the actual splines where the auto connect magic happens. It seems like it came from the dealer dry, and while I don't notice any wear (only mowed twice), I just can't seem to think that metal on metal contact there should be completely dry...

I don't want a ton of grease there to pick up debris, so I was thinking some sort of dry lube like you'd use on a garage door. But then I wasn't sure so I thought I'd ask the experts.

Thanks in advance! Obligatory photo of new and shiny tractor with the wife (she got first sit time since she approved the purchase!)

John Deere dry lube would probably work well. Thanks!

I find it frustrating that I cannot find any information in the manual. Seems like some sort of oversight (or else they don’t want it lubed...)
