My 60 MMM wheels hit interfere with tires when tread is set to widest. Anybody else have this problem? Any solutions?

Welcome to the forum.
Turf tires?
Solution, narrow the tires. IMO

Did the dealer set this machine up? There are tire options that are not compatable with some of the MMM's.

This is directly from the Deere website:

Galaxy Turf Special Tires are not Compatible With 60 In.
Mower. Tractors Require Mid PTO. 4200-4400, 4210-4410
Tractors Require Either Single SCV or Dual SCV. If
Tractor is Equipped with Dual SCV, the Third SCV Kit is
Required. 4210-4410 Tractors Manufactured after January
2003 Require LVB25544 Bracket Kit. See Sales Manual for
Specific Serial Number.

Did you replace your tires, or add the mower recently?

Trying to interpret what was quoted as 'directly' out of the Deere website. Hard for me to understand that it was a direct quote with all the strange capitalized words used.
My interpretive breakdown is as follows, and even then it is not easy to understand exactly what is being stated. I separated it into sentences to try to sort it out.

Galaxy Turf Special Tires are not Compatible With 60 In. Mower.
Tractors Require Mid PTO.
4200-4400, 4210-4410 Tractors Require Either Single SCV or Dual SCV.
If Tractor is Equipped with Dual SCV, the Third SCV Kit is Required.
4210-4410 Tractors Manufactured after January 2003 Require LVB25544 Bracket Kit.
See Sales Manual for Specific Serial Number.

Can you refer us to the website URL where this is stated?
Thanks, inquiring minds want to know. /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Try this link, then click Features just to the left of center. You should get a Java applet for configuration of the mower. I copied that paragraph directly from there. If that doesn't work for you, just keep exploring the Deere website. The paragraph came out of a "Build" configuration window.

I thought it was a simple thing to read...

It just says Galaxy Turf tires are not compatible, the tractor requires a mid PTO, then goes into the hydraulic plumbing required to operate the MMM (lowering and raising) and the mounting brackets required.

If your machine has Galaxy turfs, they must interfere with the mower...my interpretation anyway.

Yes, it has the turf tires. Also, it was setup by a John Deere dealer. Using the tread on the narrow setting is not an option as I am doing lots of loader work and my yard is hilly.

I have complained to the dealer - I asked him if the 72" deck would work - he said he would look into it. Just wondering if there are any other solutions, or if the 72" will definitely fix the problem.

Thanks.

I have a 4400 with a 72" deck. If the tires are set to the wide position they WILL interfere with the deck. Cuts down on the turning radius and rubs the deck.

Keep in mind the setting the front tires to the wide position doesn't help stability much because it articulates. The rears are where the big benefit is.

I set my rears to the wide position and left the front narrow. That's worked well for me.
