mower deck lift bracket broke off twice

I have a kubota b7800 with a 72 inch mid deck mower.
Problem is that right lift bracket on the deck has broken off.
I have attempted to weld it on with 6011 and 7011 sticks but can't seem to get penetration into the deck.
Is this something I should seek professional help on or am I missing something basic?

This seems strange to me. My first thought is you have the wrong angle to the welding rod. But, have you cleaned the deck down to bare metal? Did you bevel the lift bracket?
Pictures would be a big help.

Shield Arc, as usual, has a good grip on what to do.

Additional thoughts are:

> 6011 is fine for penetration with sufficient heat. What machine, rod diameter, and amps were used in the welding? The biggest concern should be about burning through the deck - it requires that much heat. (1/8" rod = 100+ amps, 3/32" rod = 80+ amps, as a general starting point for that job.)

> 6011 doesn't put down much metal and if you are not highly skilled it can make a bit of a mess. Less metal = less hold for us amateurs (within reason).

> 7018 would be a good cover for the 6011 pass. You'll have to use more amps for 7018 if your machine can handle it. It puts down a lot of metal to bind the bracket to the deck. In Shield Arc's drawing the weld would extend out to about 45* between the deck and bracket. Plus, it looks SO pretty when done right.

At least that is what I'd do. Not familiar with 7011 - maybe someone else can comment on that.
