mower deck shortage

If the mower deck is made by JD then it may be due to their production line procedure.
Apparently, in a cost saving move, JD manufactures many of its products on a rotating assembly line schedule.
For example, I had ordered a power beyond kit, and was told that it would take 3 days to be delivered from the plant in Atlanta.
Five days later I called the dealer, only to find out that the kit was "on freeze, at the plant in Atlanta," meaning that they were not manufacturing this product at that particular time.
I was told that it could take up to two weeks for them to start production again.
As much as I love my JD - I am equally frustrated over this cost saving policy.
In addition, it is the start of the season, and mower decks are in hot demand.

Yep same thing happened to me last year with the grass catcher for my riding mower, took 8 weeks to get in and they had said it would be two.

Did you notice, That even though the JD Dealerships are aware of this problem, they will still tell you the shortest time possible in order to make the sale. Not much concern there for the customer, nor the ill will generated by such tactics.

Yep...
JD had a major <font color=red>fire</font color=red>...a month or two ago. Burnt up a 20 acre plus JD lawn and garden midwest warehouse... /w3tcompact/icons/shocked.gif

Now I wonder....did JD suffer a warehouse fire last year too?! Must've, if you had to wait 8 weeks to get what was 'supposed' to take maybe 2 weeks. Think so?
